The Call of God in 2013…LOVE

changes-next-exit1.jpgIn the last few days, everyone and their brother has been putting out there in cyberspace their own thoughts and so-called resolutions, along with their prophetic words for what God is saying for 2013 and their spin on said “word”. I have my thoughts on 2013 as well, but I am not going to publish them. At least not everything  spoken to my heart. I will spare you from yet another, “word from God”, doom and gloom prediction, or ‘year in review’.

We all know of the senseless, discouraging, and downright evil things that happened in 2012 in our Nation and around the world.  We also know that it’s probably not going to get much better from a worldly/natural standpoint if you’ve got any inclination toward the Spirit of God and have read His Word in Scripture. But, also from Scripture we can know it’s not all dismal, therefore, we do not lose hope.  In fact, it can be seen as very good for the true Believer, Lover and Follower of the Lord Jesus.

In times past, I have taken almost every class available on the prophetic and on dream interpretation I could. In doing so, I learned that God has His own number system. Why do I bring this up you may ask? Because if that number system is important to God, then it means something to me and to you. Numbers have always kind of spoken to me. So I have studied them a little bit over the years. The number thirteen typically in prophecy represents rebellion and apostasy. Thirteen is a rather ominous number biblically:

~ In Deuteronomy 13 we are warned against idolatry.

~ Ezekiel 13 speaks about judgment against false prophets.

~ In Proverbs 13:13 it is written, “Whoever despises the word and counsel [of God] brings destruction upon himself, but he who [reverently] fears and respects the commandment [of God] is rewarded.”

~ In John 13 Jesus tell His disciples at the last supper that one of them will betray Him. After the treason of Judas, Jesus tells Peter he will deny Him 3 times.

~ Revelation 13 speaks about apostasy and the antichrist.

HOWEVER…

~ In 1 Corinthians 13:13 it is written, “These three remain – faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.”

I believe God is wanting to speak to us about His Love in 2013.

Make no mistake about it, the world will get darker in 2013. Man will become more self-centered, more rebellious, more blatant in sin, more proud, more evil. But, God’s Light and Glory will shine ever-brighter! We can have peace in the shadow of His Glory, under the wings of Almighty God. And if we have His Light in our heart, the pure Light that is Jesus Christ, then we will shine that Light to a lost and dying people. That Light is love…God’s love. Shine His love on the ones He brings across your path.

Not always an easy task you may say? Sometimes not. Especially toward those who are downright divisive, rude, selfish, arrogant…even dark in their hearts, and just plain unlovable. To be loving toward the unlovable, we have to spend more time in God’s wonderful presence. Bask in the Light of His Love. The more we are filled with His Love, the more that will overflow from us and shine that love on others into their darkness.

Psalm 37:4 – “Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

John 13:35 – “By this all people will know you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

John 14:13 – “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”

Romans 5:8 “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4:8-16“But anyone who does not love does not know God, FOR GOD IS LOVE. God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us. And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us.  All who confess that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. GOD IS LOVE, and all who live in love, live in God, and God lives in them.

Revelation 3:20“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone knows My voice and opens the door, I will come to him and eat with him and he with Me.”

God is calling His own back to their First Love in 2013…Himself. Now is the time.

He is calling us to shine His love in the darkness. He calls us to “be” love.

He will show us who and when and how to love. Commune with Jesus and He will direct your steps.

Romans 8:37-39  – “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

About KupofJo

I'm just an average 'Jo' who is saved and set free day by day through God's grace, seeking to know my Lord and follow His Way. Along this path I desire to walk in love, peace, joy, strength, valor and obedience to His statutes. As I attempt to do what He calls me to do as a woman, wife, mother, daughter of the Most High King and part time writer, I am human and will certainly stumble along the way. I am so thankful that we have a God who is merciful and shows us grace beyond what we deserve. Thanks for stopping by and traveling alongside me in this journey, if only briefly, as I scribe the thoughts He places within my heart, as well as some day-to-day notions about His world and the people in it. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and enjoy the stroll!
